Iran Condemns U.S. Airstrikes on Nuclear Sites as Treaty Violation

Tehran says no radioactive leaks, vows legal response as Washington remains silent

Iran has condemned the United States for what it called a flagrant breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), following coordinated airstrikes on three nuclear facilities. The attack, carried out in conjunction with Israeli forces, has sparked global concern over regional escalation and violations of international law.

In an early morning statement, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) confirmed that nuclear installations in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan were struck in the overnight assault. According to Tehran, these strikes represent an act of “brutal aggression” and a direct challenge to Iran’s sovereign right to peaceful nuclear development.

“This act of aggression was enabled by international silence and the complicity of institutions tasked with protecting the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” the AEOI stated, singling out the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for inaction.

No Radiation Leaks Reported

Emergency inspections conducted by Iran’s National Nuclear Safety System confirmed that there were no radioactive leaks or signs of contamination at any of the sites. Authorities said there was no threat to nearby civilian populations, pushing back against any claims of risk from the strikes.

Tehran also reiterated that its nuclear program is peaceful and in full compliance with IAEA inspections, challenging the Western narrative that Iran was nearing nuclear weaponization.

“We will not allow this industry – built by our scientists and martyrs – to be destroyed by foreign conspiracies,” the AEOI added.

Trump Threatens More Strikes

While President Donald Trump confirmed U.S. involvement in the attacks, he offered no response to accusations of breaching the NPT. Instead, he warned Iran that additional strikes would follow any form of retaliation.

The Israeli military described the operation as a joint strike on Iran’s missile and nuclear infrastructure, though no independent verification has been provided. Iran has not yet responded militarily but has vowed to take legal actionagainst what it calls a violation of international peace and security.

Despite provocations, Iran remains under IAEA supervision, and the agency has yet to present any proof of weapons-grade nuclear development. Russia and other regional actors have called for calm and condemned unilateral military actions that risk further destabilizing the Middle East.
