Israel Intensifies Lebanon Strikes, Kills 11 in Bekaa Valley

Escalating attacks and displacement orders deepen fears of a wider conflict in Lebanon

Naffah

Israeli air attacks on eastern Lebanon killed at least 11 people and wounded 15 others in the village of Mashghara in the Bekaa Valley late Monday, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

The strikes came as Israel intensified attacks across Lebanon following statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorising stronger military action against Hezbollah.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that rescuers continued searching through rubble on Tuesday as several people remained missing.

The Lebanese Health Ministry said two girls and a woman were among those killed, while at least one child was among the wounded.

Military Escalation

The Israeli military said it struck more than 100 Hezbollah infrastructure sites and fighters across the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon.

Israeli attacks also targeted the towns of Arnoun, Yohmor al-Shaqif, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Mayfadoun, Shahour and Srifa, according to Lebanese state media and local reports.

Heavy artillery shelling was reported near the Beaufort Castle area in Nabatieh district.

The Israeli military also issued forced evacuation orders for residents of Nabatieh as well as the Bekaa towns of Mashghara and Sahmar.

In a statement posted online, the military said it was acting against Hezbollah following alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Residents were instructed to move north of the Zahrani River ahead of expected air attacks.

Growing Tensions

Hezbollah said it targeted Israeli troop positions near Zawtar al-Sharqiyah and Yahmar al-Shaqif with rocket salvos and artillery fire.

The group said the attacks focused on Israeli positions along the Litani River in southern Lebanon.

The latest strikes and evacuation orders have heightened fears of a broader Israeli military campaign in Lebanon, particularly around Nabatieh and Beirut.

Israeli drones have continued flying over central Beirut and the southern suburbs in recent days as pressure mounts on Hezbollah and the Lebanese government.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, more than 3,100 people have been killed and over 9,600 wounded in Israeli attacks since the conflict escalated earlier this year.

At least one million people have been displaced across Lebanon.
