Israeli Aggression Escalates in Occupied West Bank, Targeting Palestinians

Rising Violence and Settlement Expansion Threaten Palestinian Lives

Israeli Violence Claims Palestinian Life in Hebron

Israeli forces shot and killed Mohammad Samer Suleiman al-Jamal, a 27-year-old Palestinian, at the Ras al-Joura checkpoint in Hebron on July 29, 2025.

According to Wafa news agency, citing the Health Ministry, Israeli troops opened fire directly at al-Jamal, striking him with live ammunition.

Medics were prevented from reaching him, leaving him to bleed out before his death was confirmed.

His body is currently being withheld by Israeli forces, denying his family closure.

This incident underscores the relentless aggression faced by Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces operate with impunity.

Settler Attacks Surge

Israeli settlers, often backed by soldiers, have intensified attacks on Palestinian villages, further destabilizing the region.

In Kafr Malik near Ramallah, a Palestinian man was shot in the hand by settlers who stormed poultry farms and residential areas.

In Umm al-Khair south of Hebron, settlers opened fire on Palestinians, injuring two — one shot and another beaten — while attempting to seize land.

In Taybeh, a Christian village, settlers burned vehicles and defaced homes with racist threats in Hebrew at 2am, an act the Palestinian Authority condemned as “settler terrorism.”

These attacks, coupled with the destruction of farmland and olive trees near Jenin, reveal a pattern of violence aimed at displacing Palestinians and expanding illegal settlements.

Settlement Expansion Fuels Annexation Efforts

Israel’s approval of over 3,100 new housing units in Maale Adumim signals a deliberate push to entrench control over the occupied West Bank.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission warns that these projects aim to connect Maale Adumim with nearby industrial zones, isolating Palestinian communities.

Moayyad Shaaban, a Palestinian minister, described this as a “race against time” to annex the region.

The UN reports that 1,039 Palestinian structures have been demolished in 2025 alone, highlighting the scale of Israel’s efforts to erase Palestinian presence.

The UNRWA chief noted the situation has “deteriorated alarmingly,” with annexation and the dismantling of UNRWA as declared Israeli objectives.

These actions not only violate international law but also perpetuate a cycle of violence and dispossession against Palestinians.
