UN Reports Over 600 Palestinians Killed at Gaza Aid Sites

Violence at aid distribution points escalates Gaza's humanitarian toll

The United Nations has documented at least 613 Palestinian deaths at aid distribution points and near humanitarian convoys in Gaza, with 509 fatalities reported at sites managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).

This figure, recorded as of June 27, reflects a dire situation where civilians seeking food face lethal risks.

Reports indicate ongoing incidents have worsened the crisis, with the Gaza Health Ministry estimating over 650 deaths and 4,000 injuries.

The GHF, backed by Israel and the U.S., has been criticized for operating “death traps” where desperate Palestinians are targeted.

Humanitarian System Under Siege

The UN and over 130 NGOs, including Oxfam and Amnesty International, have condemned the GHF’s operations, accusing it of facilitating attacks on starving civilians.

UNRWA, replaced by GHF’s four “mega-sites,” has called for investigations into the killings.

Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, now a “massive trauma ward,” treats countless victims injured at these sites, with cases like a 13-year-old boy shot in the head highlighting the brutality.

The health sector in Gaza is collapsing, with only 16 of 36 hospitals partially operational, struggling to meet overwhelming needs.

Civilian Desperation Amid Conflict

Palestinians face impossible choices between hunger and danger, with makeshift tents in areas like al-Mawasi, once deemed safe, now under relentless attack.

Israel’s ongoing genocide, which has killed over 57,000 Palestinians and displaced most of Gaza’s population, has triggered widespread famine and destruction.

The UN emphasizes Israel’s responsibility to ensure safety and increase aid access, as the GHF denies involvement in the violence despite evidence of deliberate attacks.

The crisis underscores the urgent need for impartial aid delivery to protect Gaza’s vulnerable population.
