Saudi-Led Coalition Strikes Sanaa as Fighting Intensifies Across Yemen

Houthi attacks, coalition airstrikes and expanding ground battles deepen Yemen's regional crisis

The Saudi-led coalition reportedly carried out airstrikes against oil facilities west of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, on Tuesday, as fighting intensified between Houthi forces and Yemen’s internationally recognized government across several fronts.

The reported strikes followed escalating threats between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, while continued bombardments in Taiz caused civilian casualties and deepened humanitarian concerns.

Coalition Strikes and Regional Tensions

Houthi-linked Al-Masirah reported that coalition aircraft targeted oil facilities west of Sanaa, although no supporting evidence was provided.

Witnesses reported hearing explosions, but the extent of the damage remained unclear.

Earlier, the coalition warned civilians to evacuate the Yemeni Oil Company site and nearby storage facilities.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree threatened retaliatory strikes against Riyadh if Sanaa came under attack.

The confrontation follows Houthi missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia, including Saturday’s strike on Riyadh’s international airport, which killed at least 13 people and wounded more than 300.

The coalition also reported intercepting three drones north of Riyadh, although the claim remained independently unverified.

Egypt urged the Houthis to halt attacks against Saudi Arabia, while the United States continued providing intelligence and operational planning assistance to coalition forces without directly conducting strikes.

Fighting Expands Across Yemen

Meanwhile, government forces reported advances around strategic positions in Marib under Operation Dawn of Yemen, an offensive aimed at retaking Houthi-controlled territory.

Military officials claimed extensive strikes against Houthi positions, while Houthi-affiliated media reported additional airstrikes in Hodeidah and Amran.

In Taiz, intense clashes continued across several fronts, with government forces reporting the capture of Houthi fighters and the Houthis maintaining pressure through shelling and attacks.

A local rights organization documented five civilian deaths and 17 injuries during 24 hours of bombardment.

Shelling also damaged residential properties and al-Safwa Hospital, while medical facilities faced worsening shortages of essential supplies.

The escalation follows Houthi territorial gains along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, including areas surrounding the strategically important Bab al-Mandeb Strait, where continued fighting threatens to deepen the wider regional confrontation.
