A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster in northern England, where he was attacked by one of the animals, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.
Emergency services were called to the park at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Saturday after reports that the man had entered the enclosure.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, while authorities have yet to establish how he gained access to the restricted area.
Police said the tiger remained inside its enclosure throughout the incident and was not injured.
Officers confirmed there was no wider danger to the public, although the wildlife park was evacuated as emergency personnel responded.
The park activated its emergency response procedures immediately and subsequently announced it would remain closed for the rest of the weekend.
Police officers remained at the location on Saturday evening as inquiries continued.
South Yorkshire Police said the deceased man's family had been informed and was receiving support from specialist officers.
Authorities also acknowledged footage circulating online that appeared to show the man inside the enclosure before the attack, urging the public against sharing the distressing material.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park said it was cooperating with investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The park emphasized that protecting visitors, employees and animals remained its highest priority.
Foreign Secretary and Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband expressed condolences to the victim's family and thanked emergency responders and park personnel.
Lee Pitcher, MP for Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme, similarly praised emergency services and acknowledged support being offered to those affected.
Visitor Karmelle Pelham, who was at the park with her family, described hearing sounds resembling gunshots and seeing an air ambulance overhead.
She also praised staff for organizing the evacuation.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park opened in 2009, followed by its Land of the Tigers attraction in 2011.
The purpose-built reserve houses endangered Amur tigers and features a raised visitor walkway overlooking the animals' habitat.
Authorities have not announced further findings concerning the man's entry into the enclosure.
