On February 28, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin in Moscow to discuss bilateral cooperation and efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations. The talks focused on key regional issues, including the Kosovo settlement process and the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as broader international topics of mutual interest.

Historical Ties and Shared Values Highlighted

During the meeting, Vulin emphasized the enduring nature of Serbia-Russia relations, describing the two countries as "historical allies" with a shared past and future. "Relations between Serbia and Russia go beyond politics. We are allies who share not only a common history but also a common system of values," Vulin told reporters. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Moscow, calling it an "honor."

In addition to his meeting with Lavrov, Vulin held discussions with Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). "Certainly, I had several meetings. I met with Director Naryshkin and with Minister Lavrov, a great friend of Serbia," Vulin said.

The talks come amid ongoing geopolitical challenges, with Serbian officials reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties with Moscow. Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric previously stated that Belgrade remains confident in the continued growth of cooperation with Russia, despite external pressures.

The meeting underscores the close diplomatic and historical ties between Serbia and Russia, as both nations seek to navigate complex regional and global issues while reinforcing their strategic partnership.
