On Friday, the Israeli Air Force launched an airstrike on Beirut for the first time since the ceasefire took effect on November 27, between Israel and Hezbollah. While Israel has carried out daily attacks on Lebanon during the ceasefire, it justified the strike on Beirut as a response to missiles launched by an unknown group from southern Lebanon.
The Israeli Army claims it attacked a Hezbollah drone storage facility, calling it a key Hezbollah stronghold, and the Israeli Army also claimed Hezbollah used civilians as human shields. The area affected by the airstrike was commercial and residential, close to 2 schools. Hezbollah and other groups in the south denied any responsibility regarding the recent rocket attack.
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun said the strike on the capital was a continuation of Israel violating the ceasefire, brokered by the US and France.
The missiles were not launched by Hezbollah, this Israeli aggression was completely unprovoked and unacceptable.

Furthermore, French President Macron condemned the Israeli strikes and called Israel to withdraw from the five remaining five points in Lebanon.
We strongly condemn the Israeli airstrike on Beirut today, and the strikes throughout Lebanon, and these attacks are unprovoked. Hezbollah has not launched any missiles since the ceasefire. Israel must withdraw from all 5 points it occupies in southern Lebanon and respect the ceasefire.
