Israel Bombs Sanaa International Airport in Yemen, Targets Power Stations
Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport today. According to the IDF, the Israeli Air Force targeted the airport, as well as two power stations and a cement factory.
Israeli officials described it as a direct response to a Houthi missile that struck near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport on May 4, and stated that the targets played a role in Yemen's 'terror' infrastructure.
While Israel claims the targets are related to Houthi military infrastructure, no proof has been provided to support this claim, and international observers continue to caution against military strikes on civilian airports and dual-use factories, such as the cement factory targeted by the Israeli Air Force in today's airstrikes. Analysts note that such strikes put the already vulnerable Yemeni population at an even higher risk of economic collapse and anarchy, after years of civil war and severe shortages.
