Amnesty International Accuses Israel of ‘Live-Streamed Genocide’ in Gaza

52,000 dead in Gaza, as Israel weaponizes aid

In its latest annual human rights report, Amnesty International claimed Israel was conducting a "live streamed genocide" against Palestinians in Gaza, stating that there has been a "specific intent to destroy" Palestinians since October 1 in the report.

Amnesty International noted the mass displacement of 90% of Gaza's population of 1.9 million people, and the coordinated denial of water, health care and fuel.

Secretary General Agnes Callamard called Israel's actions an "engineered humanitarian catastrophe," and claimed those alleged war crimes are "indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian objects."

Israel denied the claims, saying it targets Hamas with its military efforts, which are necessary for its own security. The Gaza Health Ministry says over 52,000 Palestinians have died during the hostilities. On Tuesday, a strike on a tent camp that housed displaced people in southern Gaza killed four individuals, as per local civil defense groups.

During the International Court of Justice (ICJ) hearings, a Palestinian representative accused Israel of weaponizing aid, making famine worse under the blockade. Israel dismissed the proceedings concerning claims of non-compliance with international humanitarian law as pertaining to occupied territories.

Amnesty reiterated its classification of Israel's West Bank policies as apartheid, based on systemic discrimination. The report slammed the international community for "politically unwilling" reactions, deeming the attempts to address violations "powerless."
