Mounting Casualties and Devastation

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Tuesday that the death toll in the enclave since 7 October 2023 has reached 56,077, with 131,848 wounded.

Over the past 24 hours alone, Israeli attacks killed 79 Palestinians, including five recovered from rubble, and injured 289 others.

Many victims remain trapped under debris, with emergency crews unable to reach them due to ongoing bombardments.

Since 18 March 2025, 5,759 Palestinians have been killed and 19,807 wounded, underscoring the relentless pace of Israel’s military campaign.

Weaponizing Aid and Starvation

Israel’s attacks have increasingly targeted civilians seeking aid, with 71 Palestinians, including 50 waiting for food, killed on Tuesday.

Rawhi Fattouh, speaker of the Palestinian National Council, condemned a strike on Salah al-Din Street that killed over 27 people, calling it a “deliberate war crime” and accusing Israel of turning aid convoys into “death traps.”

The United Nations has also criticized Israel’s “weaponisation of food,” labeling it a war crime and denouncing the militarized aid system as a violation of international standards.

Philippe Lazzarini, head of Unrwa, described the US-backed aid mechanism as “an abomination” that “humiliates and degrades desperate people.”

Crippling Education and Health Systems

Israel’s genocide has decimated Gaza’s education and health sectors.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education reported that 788,000 students have been denied schooling since October 2023, with 16,664 students killed and 25,728 wounded in Gaza alone.

In the West Bank, 138 students have been killed and over 760 arrested.

The health system is collapsing, exemplified by the death of three-year-old Hassan Barbakh from malnutrition and untreated medical conditions.

Hospitals lack essential supplies, and Israel’s blockade prevents medical evacuations, leaving families like Hassan’s without hope.

Qatar has warned Israel against exploiting its truce with Iran to escalate attacks, as Doha pushes for ceasefire talks.
