Gaza’s Rising Death Toll and Healthcare Collapse

Israeli forces killed at least 51 Palestinians and wounded 104 in Gaza on Saturday, pushing the death toll since October 7, 2023, to over 55,959, with 5,647 deaths since the ceasefire broke on March 18.

Over 131,242 Palestinians have been injured, and 10,000 remain missing, likely buried under rubble.

Health officials note that over 60 percent of victims are women and children.

The healthcare system faces further strain as ambulance services in Gaza City halted on Sunday due to a severe diesel fuel shortage, exacerbated by Israel’s blockade of fuel supplies, according to Arab48.

Restrictions and Raids Intensify Across West Bank

In occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli forces reinstated a full closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, barring worshippers except mosque guards and Islamic Waqf staff.

The closure followed an overnight raid where police stormed prayer halls, vandalized sacred spaces, and arrested four guards.

The Islamic Waqf condemned these actions as attempts to alter the mosque’s religious and political status quo, following nine days of restricted access amid Israel’s war on Iran.

In the West Bank, settlers attacked Deir Jarir village near Ramallah on Saturday, backed by Israeli forces who fired live rounds and sound bombs, though no injuries were reported, per Wafa.

Medical and Humanitarian Crisis Worsens

Israel’s restrictions on medical travel have led to the deaths of at least 500 Palestinian patients in Gaza, unable to access treatment due to delays, said Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra of Nasser Medical Complex.

Under international law, every patient has the right to travel for treatment,” he stated, accusing Israeli forces of targeting Gaza’s healthcare system to undermine Palestinian resilience.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reported 1,691 settler and military attacks in the West Bank in May, with 1,276 by the army and 415 by settlers, highlighting the escalating violence across Palestinian territories.
