US President Donald Trump said the United States is holding direct and indirect talks with Iran, describing the discussions as productive while warning that military strikes could resume if negotiations fail.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said Iran had requested a meeting "through their surrogates and directly" and expressed optimism that diplomacy could produce results.

He said there was "a good chance something will happen," adding that the United States would return to military action if no agreement is reached.

Regional Developments

Trump said the United States and Israel remain "pretty close" in their approach toward Iran as diplomatic contacts continue.

He also said he would ask Russian President Vladimir Putin whether Russian satellites are helping Iran direct strikes in the Middle East, following claims by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding Russian satellite surveillance of Gulf states and US military facilities.

Trump further stated that the United States is "not involved" in the current fighting linked to Yemen's Houthis, although he added Washington could become involved "if there's a problem."

He also said the United States has been "dealing with Saudi Arabia" but confirmed there had been no discussions about Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords.

Security and Military Issues

Despite Trump's remarks about ongoing negotiations, regional security incidents continued.

Saudi Arabia said it intercepted drones targeting petroleum facilities, including sites in Riyadh, and said the drones had been launched from Iraq by Iran-backed armed groups.

The kingdom said it reserved the right to respond.

Separately, Yemen's Houthis said they targeted Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline in retaliation for alleged Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.

Trump also said the United States possesses "a lot of ammunition," including missile interceptors, while stating that Patriot systems are continuing to be produced.

He criticised the previous administration for supplying weapons to Ukraine but said US stockpiles are being rebuilt.
