Several US bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Iraq and Syria have been put on a heightened state of alert, following the US airstrikes on Yemen ordered by President Trump earlier today. The United States is reportedly taking precautions to prepare for a possible retaliation from Yemen's Houthis, which could target US bases in the region with its Iranian-supplied ballistic missiles.

The airstrikes reportedly targeted radar installations, air defenses, weapons storages, and other sites, with reports now indicating that senior Ansarallah figures may also have been a target. Whether any senior official has been assassinated is currently unknown.

Yemen's Ansarallah movement announced the resumption of its naval blockade against Israeli-linked shipping several days ago, after the expiry of their ultimatum that called on Israel to respect the Gaza ceasefire terms and to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip. President Trump stated that the strikes aim to restore safety to international shipping, and that Biden's posture towards the Houthis was 'pathetically weak'.
