Ariana Grande will step back from public appearances after completing her Eternal Sunshine Tour next month, with her representatives citing "endless, ongoing public scrutiny" surrounding the singer.
The decision also means Grande will no longer star in the planned London revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park With George, where she had been scheduled to appear alongside Jonathan Bailey.
Production organizers confirmed the musical will proceed without her and said they fully support her decision.
Grande is expected to conclude her tour with performances in Chicago before a 10-date run at London's O2 Arena, ending on Sept. 1.
A representative said Grande intends to finish the tour "on a high note, both healthily and happily" before taking "a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny."
The representative also emphasized that the singer remains in good health, noting that the concert production is physically demanding and that she continues to perform successfully throughout the tour.
Public discussion surrounding Grande's appearance has intensified following the release of her eighth album, Petal, and its promotional campaign.
The album's title-track music video depicts Grande portraying a performer subjected to repeated criticism during auditions before retaliating against her fictional critics.
Empire Street Productions confirmed that Grande has withdrawn from Sunday in the Park With George, describing the decision as difficult and expressing its "complete understanding and support."
The company said the production will continue as planned, with further casting details to be announced later.
The Barbican also said it hopes to welcome Grande in the future when the time is right while confirming preparations for the production remain on schedule.
