Federal investigators are analyzing DNA recovered from a glove found near the Tucson, Arizona, home of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of television journalist Savannah Guthrie, who was abducted more than two weeks ago.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said the glove appears to match those worn by a masked man captured in doorbell camera footage shortly before Guthrie disappeared.

Preliminary results from a private crime laboratory in Florida were received Saturday and were pending quality control and official confirmation before submission to a national database.

Authorities said a potential match could emerge as early as Monday once the specimen is processed through the Combined DNA Index System, or CODIS.

DNA Evidence

The glove was recovered from a roadside field roughly two miles from Guthrie’s residence.

Investigators collected about 16 gloves in the area, most of which were determined to have been discarded by searchers.

The FBI said the glove submitted for analysis is “different and appears to match the gloves” worn by the individual seen in surveillance footage.

In the video, a masked man wearing gloves and a backpack approaches the doorbell camera and attempts to disable it before obscuring its view.

Following forensic analysis, authorities estimated the suspect to be between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall with an average build and identified the backpack as a 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack.

Officials have also confirmed that DNA not belonging to Guthrie or her close contacts was found at her home.

Search Intensifies

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 after family members dropped her off at her home.

Relatives reported her missing the following day.

Investigators have said she had limited mobility and could not have left unassisted, leading them to conclude she was taken against her will.

Traces of blood found on her front porch were confirmed to be hers.

Authorities have received at least two purported ransom notes delivered to media outlets, though no direct contact has been made with the family.

On Friday, law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence less than two miles from her home and questioned a person during a related traffic stop, but no arrests were made.

The FBI has increased the reward for information to $100,000.

Savannah Guthrie renewed her public appeal, saying, “we still have hope,” and urging anyone involved to “do the right thing.”
