A 35-year-old woman has been arrested after gunfire struck the Los Angeles-area home of pop star Rihanna, authorities said, in an incident that unfolded Sunday afternoon and left no injuries but raised serious concerns about the safety of the internationally known performer and her family.

Police said the singer was inside the residence with her partner, A$AP Rocky, and their children when the shooting occurred at the property in Beverly Crest, just north of Beverly Hills.

Officers responded at about 1:15 p.m. local time to reports of gunfire at the home, where investigators later found assault rifle shell casings and apparent bullet damage to the front gate.

Investigation Develops

The Los Angeles Police Department identified the suspect as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, who was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly drove up to the entrance of the property and opened fire toward the house using an AR-15-style weapon before leaving the area.

A vehicle matching the description connected to the shooting was later located in nearby Sherman Oaks, about eight miles from the residence.

Police stopped the white Tesla at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center and arrested the suspect around 2:20 p.m. Sunday.

Ortiz was later booked into Los Angeles County jail early Monday morning, with bail set at approximately $10.2 million.

Officials said the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Investigators also confirmed that no one inside the home was injured during the incident.

Background Details

Authorities said the suspect is believed to be from Orlando, Florida, and records link her name to a licensed speech-language pathologist registered in the state since 2015.

Court documents in Florida also indicate past legal issues, including a 2023 incident involving her former husband during a dispute over dropping off their children.

Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in Barbados, was inside the home at the time of the shooting.

The nine-time Grammy winner has maintained a high public profile for more than two decades through her music career and business ventures.

She and A$AP Rocky share three children, including a daughter born in September.

Representatives for the singer have not publicly commented on the incident.
