Chinese Companies Flock to Invest in Syria
On Thursday, representatives from several prominent Chinese investment companies, along with leading Chinese businessmen, met with Syrian Minister of Transport, Badr Yarub, to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the transportation sector an initiative that signals a deepening of the strategic partnership between China and Syria.
During the meeting, both sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on a wide range of topics, including the potential for Chinese-led training programs aimed at upskilling the Syrian workforce in various transportation-related fields. These include, but are not limited to, cargo transportation logistics, railway infrastructure development, and the adoption and integration of electric vehicles into Syria’s transport systems.
Minister Yarub emphasized the critical importance of expanding bilateral trade and fostering collaboration on large-scale joint infrastructure projects with Chinese partners. He also expressed deep appreciation for China’s consistent and unwavering support throughout the prolonged crisis that Syria has been enduring, highlighting the value of such solidarity in the country’s efforts toward recovery and reconstruction.
Reportedly, the Syrian presidency announced that the General Director of the Middle East branch of the Chinese company AOJ Technology held a meeting with Syrian officials. The discussion centered on creating secure conditions for Chinese investment in Syria, with both parties exchanging views on the government's aspirations to establish a safe and stable environment conducive to long-term economic cooperation.
