European Far-Right Parties Engage in Talks with Israeli Foreign Minister

Unprecedented Diplomatic Moves from Israel Raise Questions About its Ties with Europe’s Far-Right.

As far-right political parties continue to gain momentum across Europe, numerous non-European nations have started adopting subtle yet deliberate diplomatic Moves to establish communication and foster trust with these emerging political parties. These efforts, though initially small in scale, reflect a broader geopolitical shift in which governments seek to engage with influential nationalist movements.

Many Israeli diplomats have begun opening direct communication channels with several far-right political parties in three European nations. This move was initiated earlier this month under the instruction of Gideon Sa’ar Israel’s Foreign Minister. According to The Times of Israel, the diplomats met with France’s National Rally, Sweden Democrats, and Spain’s Vox party the purpose of these meetings was to discuss the growing Antisemitic rhetoric, holocaust denial and fascist origins of the political parties. Furthermore, other rogue Israeli ministers and legislators have met with several far-right political parties in Europe without the approval of the Israeli government.

Israeli newspaper Walla published a comprehensive and in-depth report detailing the diplomatic discussions held between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and various far-right political parties across Europe. According to the report, the majority of these conversations were described as constructive and positive. However, Walla highlighted that interactions with Austria’s Freedom Party and Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) were less favourable, ultimately leading Sa’ar to rule out any future diplomatic engagement with these parties. Additionally, the report revealed that Jewish communities across Europe were formally notified about Israel’s ongoing discussions with these political groups.
