AIPAC Targets Marjorie Taylor Greene Over Criticism of Israel
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has launched a fundraising campaign that could be aimed at unseating U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, as the Republican from Georgia intensifies her criticism of the Israel lobby and Washington’s close relationship with Israel.
On Thursday, Greene posted on X (formerly Twitter) that AIPAC was attacking her in fundraising emails for saying:
“The most truthful and easiest thing to say is that Oct. 7th in Israel was horrific and all hostages must be returned, but so is the genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation happening in Gaza.”
Alongside her post, Greene shared a photo of a sign on her Capitol Hill office door reading: “NO FOREIGN LOBBYING.” She warned that any foreign lobbyists would be in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
Greene accused AIPAC of telling its donors that she was betraying “American values” and vowed to fight back. In recent months, she has become the most outspoken Republican critic of Israel, breaking long-standing taboos by labeling Israel’s military actions in Gaza as “genocide” and publicly acknowledging that Israel possesses nuclear weapons. She has also repeatedly called for AIPAC to register under FARA.
Although Greene has avoided direct criticism of President Donald Trump, she has warned her party since the spring that continued U.S. involvement in foreign wars—deeply unpopular with many Trump voters—could cost Republicans electoral support for years to come.
AIPAC has previously targeted Republican lawmakers critical of Israel, including Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky in 2022. While the group did not endorse a challenger, it spent more than $10 million on negative advertising against him. Massie still won reelection comfortably. AIPAC is reportedly seeking candidates to challenge him in 2026, while the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) has pledged “unlimited” spending to prevent a potential Massie Senate bid.
The growing shift among Republican voters away from strong support for Israel has drawn notice from the White House. According to reports, President Trump recently told a Jewish donor that his voters were “turning against Israel.”
