Eyewitnesses and video recordings show Kirk recoiling and grabbing the side of his head or neck as shots were fired. Blood was visible at the scene, prompting immediate evacuation and emergency medical response.
Utah Valley University police confirmed that shots were fired and that Kirk was struck during the incident. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. A suspect has been taken into custody, according to campus security alerts.

Just before the event, Kirk posted on X (formerly Twitter) celebrating the tour’s launch, writing that Utah Valley University was “fired up and ready” for the first stop of the American Comeback Tour.
