U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Visit India for Four-Day Diplomatic Trip

Visit to include meetings with Indian leaders, trade talks, and stops at key cultural landmarks.

On Monday, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance will embark on a four-day visit to India. During the trip, Vance is scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss the strengthening of economic and geopolitical ties between the two countries.

The visit comes after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was recently in India for a geopolitical conference, and it coincides with the ongoing trade war between the United States and China, which is New Delhi’s primary rival in the region.

In India, the Vice President will visit New Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra. The Vice President will hold meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Vice President and Second Family will also participate in engagements at cultural sites.

In an effort to strengthen ties, India has already moved to align more closely with Washington by increasing its imports of American oil, energy resources, and advanced defense equipment, including next-generation stealth fighter jets.

Despite this growing cooperation, a key sticking point remains: the U.S. continues to press India for broader market access for its agricultural and dairy products. However, New Delhi has been hesitant, given that agriculture remains the backbone of India's employment and rural economy.
