Israel’s Lebanon Offensive Deepens as Casualties Rise

Escalating strikes intensify fears of prolonged conflict

Naffah

Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon intensified over the past 24 hours, with at least 10 people reported killed in multiple strikes, as the broader death toll from two months of conflict reached 2,659, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.

The latest casualties include at least three killed in the town of Choukine in the Nabatieh district, alongside additional fatalities reported in Shoukin and surrounding areas.

Israeli attacks have also wounded thousands, with 8,183 people reported injured since March 2.

The escalation reflects a widening campaign as Israeli forces push deeper into Lebanese territory, accompanied by evacuation orders for nine villages in Nabatieh.

Rising Toll

In the latest wave of strikes, Israeli forces targeted multiple towns including Adshit, Harouf, and areas near Zoutar and Deir Siryan.

In Shoukin, at least two people were killed and several wounded, including Mayor Hussein Ali Ahmad, as residential neighborhoods sustained extensive damage.

Additional shelling struck the outskirts of Froun, Ghandoorieh, and Wadi al-Slouqi, while drone strikes continued to hit vehicles along key transit routes such as the Kfardjal–Nabatieh road.

The Israeli military claimed some targets as Hezbollah positions, while also designating a 10-kilometer “Yellow Line” zone near the border as a depopulated area subject to open-fire operations.

Although a ceasefire framework remains formally in place, conditions on the ground indicate it is largely nominal, with hostilities continuing to intensify, particularly in southern regions.

Drone Warfare

Hezbollah has continued retaliatory actions, stating it targeted a “gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers” in a house in Biyyada at 7:15pm on Friday.

The group described the attack as a response to ceasefire violations and ongoing strikes on southern villages.

Meanwhile, Israeli media debates have intensified סביב the growing use of advanced Hezbollah drones, which are reportedly inflicting casualties and contributing to a war of attrition.

Analysts and commentators have warned that Israeli troops are increasingly vulnerable to these technologies, alongside sniper fire and planted explosives.

The developments have raised concerns within Israel about a potential repeat of its previous prolonged occupation in Lebanon, as military operations continue to expand.
