Kazakhstan Delivers 30 Wagons of Humanitarian Aid to Iran

Aid shipment includes food, medicine and medical supplies amid Iran’s economic strain

Naffah

Kazakhstan has delivered 30 railway wagons of humanitarian assistance to Iran as the country faces mounting economic pressure following months of war with the United States and Israel.

The shipment, sent under instructions from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was handed over to the Iranian Red Crescent Society during a ceremony at the Sarakhs railway station near the Iran-Turkmenistan border.

According to Kazakh authorities, the cargo included canned meat products, sugar, first-grade flour, medical supplies and medicines intended to support socially significant needs across Iran.

The humanitarian cargo will later be transported to Tehran for distribution among relevant institutions.

Aid Delivery

The aid operation was coordinated by the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development, KazAID, together with Kazakhstan’s ministries of foreign affairs, emergency situations and healthcare.

The handover ceremony was attended by Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Iran, Ontalap Onalbayev, representatives of the Iranian Red Crescent Society and Iranian foreign ministry officials from Khorasan Razavi province.

Onalbayev described Iran as one of Kazakhstan’s important political, trade-economic and humanitarian partners in the Middle East and the Islamic world.

“A friend in need is a friend indeed. Kazakhstan has consistently supported the people of Iran during various periods,” the ambassador said during the ceremony.

Iranian Red Crescent representatives thanked Kazakhstan for the assistance and said the shipment would help strengthen bilateral relations and mutual support between the two countries.

Economic Pressure

The delivery comes as Iran continues to confront severe economic difficulties linked to months of conflict and disruption.

According to Iran’s official statistics centre, annual inflation has reached about 53.7 percent, while food prices have risen by more than 115 percent compared with the previous year.

The economic strain has affected access to essential goods and increased pressure on humanitarian and healthcare services across the country.

Kazakhstan’s aid shipment adds to regional efforts aimed at supporting civilian needs as Iran navigates the continuing economic fallout.
