On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 2 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT), a vehicle plowed into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, injuring over 20 individuals.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that at least four victims are in critical condition, with up to eight others seriously injured and approximately 15 in fair condition.
The incident occurred near a nightclub and a taco cart, where many victims were standing in line or gathering.
LAFD deployed 124 personnel to the scene to manage patient triage and transport.
Live footage showed dozens of responders treating victims on the road, with debris scattered around a grey vehicle on the pavement.
LA Fire Department captain Adam Van Gerpen stated: "Apparently somebody that lost consciousness inside the vehicle and drove into a taco cart and then ultimately ran into a large number of people that were outside a club in East Hollywood."
The cause of the incident remains unclear, though preliminary reports suggest the driver lost consciousness before the crash.
Authorities have not released further details about the driver or the circumstances leading to the event.
The scene, located near a music venue at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue, saw a significant police and emergency presence as the situation was brought under control.
