Rapper Nicki Minaj joined US President Donald Trump onstage at a Republican campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, pledging continued support for the president and urging voters to back Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
Her appearance came as both parties intensified campaigning in closely contested races that will help determine control of Congress.
Trump invited Minaj onstage while campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers and gubernatorial candidate John James.
The rapper praised Trump's leadership, saying his return to office had changed the country's political atmosphere and offered Americans a brighter future.
Minaj also pledged to support Trump if he sought another presidential term, although the 22nd Amendment prohibits him from being elected to a third term.
During her remarks, Minaj encouraged voters to elect Republican candidates and addressed transgender-related policies involving children, expressing opposition to gender transitions for minors.
Trump introduced the Grammy-nominated artist as the queen of rap and repeatedly praised her during the event.
He also made remarks about her appearance.
Minaj, who accompanied Trump to Michigan aboard Air Force One, has increasingly participated in political activities supporting his administration.
She previously endorsed his positions concerning alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria and his gold card visa initiative.
The rally took place amid a closely contested Senate race between Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Abdul El-Sayed.
Former President Barack Obama appeared alongside El-Sayed at a Democratic campaign rally on Saturday, underscoring the attention both parties are directing toward Michigan.
During Sunday's event, Trump targeted El-Sayed's Muslim faith and background, alleging that the Democratic candidate would allow jihadists into the United States if elected.
El-Sayed has previously described similar statements as Islamophobic, accusing Trump of using his religion to divert attention from economic pressures facing Americans.
The November 3 elections will determine which party controls Congress for the remainder of Trump's presidency.
Minaj's participation adds another prominent celebrity voice to Republican campaigning as both parties seek support in Michigan's competitive races.
