US President Donald Trump said the United States has struck “about 75 percent of targets” in Iran, while signaling that any resolution to the conflict would come on Washington’s terms and timeline, as Iranian leaders rejected claims of internal divisions and emphasized national unity.

Speaking during a combative exchange with reporters, Trump downplayed earlier suggestions of a fixed timeline for the conflict and said he was in no rush to conclude negotiations.

He stated that a deal would only be reached when it is “appropriate and good” for the United States and its allies.

In a social media post, Trump dismissed reports that he was eager to end the war, writing, “I have all the time in the World, but Iran doesn’t – The clock is ticking!”

He also reiterated claims of extensive damage to Iran’s military capabilities and maintained that US control over the Strait of Hormuz would remain until conditions were met.

Trump indicated that reopening the key shipping route would depend on a broader agreement, adding that he did not want Iran to benefit economically during a ceasefire.

Iran Response

Iranian officials pushed back strongly against assertions of political infighting within their leadership.

President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior figures said there were no divisions between factions, emphasizing collective alignment under the country’s leadership.

They described the nation as unified in both governance and military efforts, rejecting the characterization of “moderates” and “hardliners” as external constructs.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reinforced this stance, stating that state institutions were acting with “unity, purpose and discipline.”

He added that diplomatic and military efforts were coordinated as part of a broader strategy.

The exchange of statements reflects an intensifying standoff, with both sides projecting confidence while leaving open the possibility of negotiations under shifting conditions.
