Newly released documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein have intensified scrutiny of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his past links to the convicted sex offender and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The materials, made public by the United States Department of Justice, include photographs that appear to illustrate how Epstein and Maxwell accessed influential British social circles through their association with the former royal.

Photographs and Elite Settings

The released images show Epstein and Maxwell in settings closely associated with Britain’s elite and royal life.

Photographs depict them hunting at Balmoral and seated with Mountbatten-Windsor in the royal box at Ascot.

One undated image, believed to have been taken at Sandringham in Norfolk, shows Mountbatten-Windsor reclining across several people whose faces have been redacted.

In that photograph, Maxwell is visible in the background appearing to watch and smile.

Additional images show Maxwell standing outside 10 Downing Street, though no context or date accompanies the picture.

Some of the photographs also include Mountbatten-Windsor’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, alongside individuals whose identities have been obscured.

The documents form part of a large tranche of files released following a legal requirement to make public records tied to the Epstein investigation.

Legal Release and Public Examination

The publication followed the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandated the release of all related investigative files by a set deadline.

Justice department officials said the release prompted exceptionally high public interest and that further documents would be disclosed in stages to protect victims.

Epstein, who pleaded guilty to child sex offences in 2008, died in a federal jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Maxwell was convicted of child sex trafficking in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Mountbatten-Windsor stepped back from royal duties in 2019 after public backlash over a televised interview in which he addressed his relationship with Epstein.

He later reached a financial settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was sexually assaulted by him as a teenager, claims he has consistently denied.

The renewed focus comes amid continued examination of his past conduct and follows his removal from royal titles by King Charles.
